From Pledge to Active
Upon accepting your bid into the Sigma Chi Fraternity, you enter an 8-week process of pledgeship. However, learning does not stop after pledgeship.
It's Not Four Years. It's For Life...
Sigma Chi is more than just an extracurricular. With your commitment as a pledge, it is our duty to immerse you in the experience of Sigma Chi. In return, you must study our history and adhere to our moral standards.
The Norman Shield will be your guide, with the fraternity's values, history, and founders illustrated in vivid detail. Take the values to heart, and you shall know what it means to be a Sigma Chi

Sigma Chi's reference manual, The Norman Shield, is distributed to undergraduates at the beginning of their pledgeship. It is also available for anyone who is interested in learning about the Fraternity. It contains history and information about Sigma Chi, and a new edition of the manual is published every two years. - Sigma Chi.Org

The object of a college education is not to make us finished scholars, nor to complete our education. Education is a lifelong process. The purpose of a college education is to awaken the importance of developing the mind — to create an unquenchable thirst for knowledge. - Excerpt from The Norman Shield
